Craft an environment of connection
A sense of belonging and connection is something that needs to be actively built. What are we designing purposefully to allow students to feel connected wherever they go on campus? This might refer to their social belonging among peers, the professionals serving them, and their instructors; however, it might go beyond that into a deeper sense of purpose as they learn that they do in fact belong in academia and to specific disciplines and begin to envision their future selves!
At Glendale Community College, we recognize that every interaction and space provides an opportunity to contribute to a student's sense of belonging. Whether they're engaging with peers, staff, faculty, or administrators, each experience matters.
