CalWORKs for high school students

Are you a high school student attending GCC and the child in family receiving CalWORKs? If so, we have great news for you...

If your family receives cash aid or CalWORKs services from DPSS (The Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services), then you may qualify for extra support in your Dual Enrollment or Jump Start classes, including:

  • A cash grant in Spring and Fall
  • Money for the full cost of your textbooks 
  • Money for your material fees 
  • Wireless ear buds
  • Borrowing a laptop or tablet for the whole semester
  • Career counseling, including helping you choose a career, explore college majors, write your resume, and practice interviewing.

  • Email us at calworks@glendale.edu. If you have a screenshot from Benefits Cal or a document showing your family receives CalWORKs you can attach that to your email. 
  • We're also happy to talk with your parents about your family's CalWORKs status. Our staff speaks English, Armenian, Farsi, Spanish, and Chinese.
